#dhrupadmusician #indianclassicalmusic #meditativemusic This is a musical tribute to my father - Promod Shanker, who spent his life in music. He was a gifted musician, with the soul that had probably spent many lives in music, he took to the sarod at a tender age and never looked back. A well-known music producer who recognized great potential, he gave life to the careers of many amazing musicians. But to his children he gifted the undying passion and yearning for music that keeps him with us and nurtures us even when he is gone.

I am singing here a traditional Alaap-jod-jhaala, which is the fundamental groundwork of Dhrupad. My choice of Raag Marwa turned out to be very symbolic. I faltered, groped and fell at many places, just the way I did in life when my father left this world. The music reflects the void he has left in our lives.
