Presentation on the U.S. National Grid (USNG) derivative Emergency Location Marker (ELM) system given at the Wisconsin Land Information Association (WLIA) Annual Conference on February 18, 2021. Presenter is Stephen Swazee, Executive Director of SharedGeo, the nonprofit which developed the system and serves as the public domain copyright holder to ensure the concept remains free to use by the general public. Items discussed include background on creation of the ELM, why USNG was used as the displayed coordinate system, where ELMs can be found, types of ELMs, and basic steps to plan for an ELM project.
