Linear, circular, and curved patterns are all common commands used by CAD users every day. In this blog, you will be guided through the use of these three pattern functions in SolidWorks and when they can be used to simplify the modeling process.
LINEAR DRIVEN PATTERN
The Linear Pattern command is used to move features, surfaces, or solids in a linear direction. This feature helps save time by reducing repetitive motions when adding a series of holes or other forms of geometry.
CURVED DRIVEN PATTERN
The curve-driven pattern does what a simple linear pattern cannot. It allows the user to pattern a feature, surface, or solid along a curve. The curve can be created from all types of features: a split line, a projected curve, a compound curve, a curve through reference points/XYZ, a helix/spiral, or even a 3D sketch.
