The year 1997 brought us a lot of great things, in the world of Television we were first introduced to South Park and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in music the Spice Girls were top of the charts and the WWF, the year was very much split in two halves. On screen, the company was going through arguably their best year ever creatively, with some of their greatest storylines starting to develop and a number of major stars rising to the forefront. Off screen however, things would not be so rosy as, with WCW continuing to beat them in the ratings war, Vince McMahon’s company would come closer than it ever had to going out of business.
