Today's Catholic Mass Readings & Gospel Reflection - Monday, February 26, 2024
Reading 1: Dn 9:4b-10
Resp: Ps 79:8, 9, 11 and 13
Gospel: Lk 6:36-38
Monday of the Second Week in Lent
Lectionary: 230
Reading 1: Dn 9:4b-10
"O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. To you, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, those who are near and those who are far away, in all the lands to which you have driven them, because of the treachery that they have committed against you. To us, O Lord, belongs open shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you. To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by walking in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets."
Responsorial Psalm: Ps 79:8, 9, 11 and 13
R. (see 103:10a) Lord, do not deal with us according to our sins.
Remember not our former iniquities: let your mercies speedily prevent us, for we have become exceedingly poor.
R. Lord, do not deal with us according to our sins.
Help us, O God, our saviour: and for the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us: and forgive us our sins for your name’s sake:
R. Lord, do not deal with us according to our sins.
Let the sighing of the prisoners come in before you. According to the greatness of your arm, take possession of the children of them that have been put to death. But we your people, and the sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you for ever. We will show forth your praise, unto generation and generation.
R. Lord, do not deal with us according to our sins.
Verse Before the Gospel: See Jn 6:63c, 68c
Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life;
you have the words of everlasting life.
Gospel: Lk 6:36-38
Jesus said to his disciples: "Be merciful, just as your Father is also merciful.
Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: a good measure, pressed down and shaken together and overflowing, they will place upon your lap. Certainly, the same measure that you use to measure out, will be used to measure back to you again."
