Fall asleep on a quiet westbound ride from the heart of the Bay Area's Rapid Transit system, as a 10-car San Francisco/Millbrae train departs 12th Street/Oakland City Center Station for West Oakland at the start of the weekday evening rush.
For the first time since BART's opening in 1972, a video of this westbound stretch spanning 12th Street and West Oakland is now here. In this scenic 4-5 minute peninsula-bound journey shared by trains from Pittsburg/Bay Point and Richmond, travelers are treated to gorgeous panoramic views of Interstate 880, the West Oakland neighborhood and the Port of Oakland.
Following BART's last East Bay stop at West Oakland Station, an approximately 7-minute Transbay Tube trip awaits all San Francisco-bound trains, prior to arrival in "The City by the Bay." Trains not destined for San Francisco from 12th Street, instead, continue south to Lake Merritt Station, as they make their way toward Fremont.
