In the final chapters of Warheart, Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell travel to the People's Palace, which is under siege by Sulachan and Arc, who are trying to destroy the world with the power of prophecy and the Omen Machine. Richard discovers the secrets of prophecy and the Omen Machine in the Cerulean scrolls, and learns that he has to find the anchor, a hidden object that links the underworld to the world of the living. He also has to heal himself from the touch of death, which he does by using the Sword of Life, a weapon that can heal anything. He then faces the final confrontation with Sulachan and Arc, and manages to defeat them by using the Sword of Truth, a weapon that can cut through anything. He also frees the world from the influence of prophecy and the underworld, and restores the balance of life. He and Kahlan then celebrate their victory and their love, and look forward to a peaceful future.
