Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this video we make our long awaited return to Didcot Railway Centre home of The Great Western Railway 8 years after we last visited back in August 2016.
Since the last time we came to visit allot has changed since as we will see in this program.
This year's visit was GWR Castle class theme with 4079 Pendennis Castle operating on the mainline demonstration & a chance of a line up with his younger brother 5051 Dryslewyyn Castle outside the shed.
Since the last time we got 5051 he was inside the shed paired with Dennis's tender while 4079 was getting restored to running order.
Now some 8 years we see 4079 operating at his home since the completion of the restoration & 5051 reunited with his own tender with the GWR shirtbutton logo on the tender.
We have a look round the locos inside the sheds including seeing at the back of the shed 6023 King Edward II now on static display & our 1st sighting of the loco since October 2019 during his end of season visit to The North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Also during the visit we have a look at the progress on the construction to working order of the replica of the GWR country 1014 County of Glamorgan inside the workshop.
Our main focus is on the 2 castles most notably 4079 Pendennis Castle seeing him at different angles while on the demonstration line alongside the mainline.
Seeing Dennis is a preview to our visit to The North Yorkshire Moors Railway when the castle comes to pay the NYMR a visit from The Annual Steam Gala.
Harnetty Railways will be at the NYMR for the gala weekend & we cannot wait to hear the sights & sounds of a GWR castle climbing up the 1 in 49 grade from Grosmont to Goathland.
Thanks for reading enjoy the video.
