This video describes what is needed for mens rea (or "guilty mind") - which is one of the necessary components for many type of criminal responsibility. The Model Penal Code was an attempt made in the early 1960s to standardize these types of culpability. It distinguished between intentionally (purposefully) performing a wrongful action, knowingly doing so, acting recklessly, and acting negligently.
