This is the presentation version of Ben Mohr's flash talk from Marquette's 2019 Investment Symposium.
This talk will cover some of the most top-of-mind questions investors have regarding machine learning in asset management. We will go through a brief history of machine learning and artificial intelligence outside of the industry, followed by what machine learning actually is and how it works at a high level.
Next, we will go through the reasons and advantages for using machine learning as part of the investing process, as well as the counterpoints: the challenges and risks of using machine learning for investing. We will then conclude with how artificial intelligence is being used right now in the asset management industry and cover future trends that we might expect in the coming years.
