I received A VERY BEAUTIFUL STORY of DKP from Shri PRK Sastry...

A few days back, I read about of DKP amma written by Shri Sudhakar Modumudi.

Once Smt DK Pattammal performed at the Akashvani concert in New Delhi. An earthquake happened during her performance! Everyone feared and left the hall, but... Smt DK Pattammal never came out of her concentration and she continued to sing the raaga alapana.

When everything became alright, the audience came back and one of them asked DKP amma...

"How did the earthquake not strike fear in you?"

She replied...

"Death is inevitable, if I am destined to leave today, it may come in any form, but leaving off stage mid-concert is a sin"...

President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan supposed to attend the function, but he couldn’t make it. Later... He came to know about the incident. He invited Smt DK Pattammal to perform at his residence and congratulated her the very next day.

The raga that Smt DK Pattammal rendered during the earthquake was “devagAndhAri” followed by “sItA vara sangIta jnAnamu” a very beautiful composition of Saint Tyagaraja...
