Short animation about the importance of never having to worry about whether your EV can charge. Interoperability in EV Charging guarantees charging opportunities anywhere, anytime without brand dependency.
We’re seeing a large increase in the variety of electric vehicles. Not just different types of cars, it’s electric delivery vans, excavators, e-trucks and even the first electric planes. The charging infrastructure is also expanding in more shapes and sizes and charging speeds. So, how can we ensure smooth and smart charging at all these charging stations? The answer is: interoperability.
"Interoperability means that different systems can connect and communicate in a coordinated way, without any end-user effort."
This means that both the variety of vehicles and the charging infrastructure have to comply to a number of protocols. But whether all these combinations actually work in practice needs testing. And, if there’s a combination of these that causes any problems when charging, this can usually be solved by a software update. The manufacturer simply adjusts the firmware so that all protocols are correctly followed.
So, there’s a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes to make sure that today’s and tomorrow’s drivers will never have to worry about whether they can charge.
