▷ It's being called the worst flooding disaster in Spain's modern history, with at least 159 lives lost. An unknown number of people are still missing, and authorities fear many more have been killed. Nearly half a metre of rain fell in eight hours across the Valencia region in Spain's east.
▷ The United States says it expects North Korean forces to join combat operations against Ukraine within days. Secretary of State Antony Blinken says as many as 8,000 North Korean troops are already in Russia’s Kursk region, parts of which Ukraine occupied in August.
▷ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has met with two senior White House officials as they continue attempts to broker a ceasefire in the region. The meeting came as Hezbollah launched two rocket attacks into northern Israel, killing seven civilians.
