An overview of the Las Cabras team's bicycle powered ball mill manure crusher. The team designed the machine through a co-creation process facilitated by Colombia based NGO, Diversa, alongside community partners in rural Colombia, the Roja family. The family lives on the beautiful Muyquyta farm northeast of Bogota in the municipality of Miraflores.
The team consisted of Lily Abourezk (design engineer), Daniel Pack (mechanical engineer), Jane Horn (civil engineer), Kylie Hill (environmental engineer), and Jeeva Senthilnathan (mechanical engineer). The team primarily interacted with Diana and Don Beto Roja. The project was advised by Dr. Marie Stettler-Kleine, director of the Engineering with Communities Design Studio at Colorado School of Mines, and facilitated by Luissa Hernandez and Natalia Barrera from Diversa.
