Welcome to the very first episode of our new series Autism Live & Love.
Hosted by Mother and disability advocate Jo Van Dort, proud Mum of 14 year old Daniel, who lives with Autism. This pilot episode showcases what it's actually like as a parent receiving your child's diagnosis for the very first time and how you can avoid feeling like Jo did when she first learnt of Daniel's condition. It's easy to feel alone, in denial, ashamed, defeated and a raft of many other emotions. But it doesn't have to be, if you can find a tribe, community and group of people that share what you are going through.
In this episode, we introduce you to the key people who have played a role in Daniel's life to date from carers, to educators, teachers, other parents, NDIA representatives and other children living with Autism.
This project is proudly presented by @TORCHT Productions and is intended to help as many families as possible to live and LOVE with autism.
In this episode you will meet a Mother living and loving a teenage daughter with Autism, a Primary School Principal integrating his curriculum for all children, a physical education trainer for kids with Autism who has also been diagnosed on the spectrum.
We share the views of a kindergarten teacher, a NDIA support representative, a speech pathologist and a fellow mother living and loving a son with down syndrome and non-verbal autism.
Our hope is that this content will resonate with many of you and help ease the burden that first time parents can feel when learning about Autism.
We intend to produce this show beyond this first episode and welcome opportunities to present on a major network and streaming services.
Please enjoy!
