Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath asked the Lucknow police and administration to take the ongoing controversy related to the Lulu mall “very seriously”.
CM Yogi asked the police as well as the administration to check anti-social elements from disturbing communal harmony. He said that some people are making unnecessary remarks and staging demonstrations to obstruct movement of people, stressing that miscreants should be dealt with strictly.
CM Yogi's statement came a day after police arrested two people who had entered the mall and started reciting Hanuman Chalisa.
The controversy began after a video showing a group of people offering Namaz at the mall went viral on social media. After the video of Namaz went viral, the mall administration put up notices at several places inside the mall premises. "No religious prayers will be permitted in the mall".
The Lucknow police arrested four persons for performing Namaz at the mall. The arrested men were identified as Mohammad Rehan, Aatif Khan, Mohammad Lokman, and Mohammad Noman All four have been sent into judicial custody.
