To deposit a paper check, find your ATM card and find a BMO ATM nearby. You can find an ATM on the BMO bank website or using the BMO mobile app. Make sure the ATM is deposit enabled because some ATMs may only allow you to withdraw cash. Also, keep in mind that some states may not have BMO ATMs at all. To get started, tap the BMO debit card on the ATM. If it doesn’t work, insert the card in the slot on the right side of the ATM. The ATM says, “Reading card.” On the next screen, you must select your preferred language. I selected English. Next, on the right side of the ATM, type your 4-digit PIN. If you don't know your PIN, then you can go to the BMO bank branch and ask the teller or cashier to set up a new PIN for the ATM card. When you finish typing your PIN, tap the green Enter button. The ATM says, “Preparing your transaction.” Then the ATM offers several options, and one of them is “Deposit.” Tap on the deposit option. ATM asks to choose an account type in which to deposit funds. Here, you can see that it offers “Savings” as an option. Select checking if you don’t have savings. Next, the ATM asks how you want to get the receipt. It can be No Receipt, With check image or with summary. I chose a receipt with a check image. Next, the ATM offers to insert items. You can insert cash and checks together for up to 40 items. Make sure there are no coins, envelopes, staples, clips, etc. The ATM automatically calculates the deposit amount and recognizes many details.
Insert the check. The ATM starts processing where it reads the check. It recognized the amount on its own, which is very lovely. You can add more items to the deposit or just Confirm the amount. I tap to confirm. Next, the ATM shows the confirmation message “Deposit successful.” Next, the ATM asks: “Would you like to do another transaction?” No. Printing your receipt.
Take your receipt and take your card. That is how you can deposit a paper check at BMO ATM.
