Today, Pakistan saw a partial shutdown of petrol pumps nationwide as petroleum dealers protested against the federal budget taxes. The day-long strike, called by the owners of approximately 13,000 fuel stations, began at 6am and affected various cities and major highways. However, many petrol pumps in major cities like Lahore and Karachi remained operational.
The strike, initiated by the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA), highlighted the high tax rates that have made it difficult for fuel station owners to sustain their businesses. Despite the breakdown of negotiations with the government, the majority of petrol pumps in Lahore did not observe the strike, while some stations in Karachi continued operating, particularly along Rashid Minhas Road, University Road, and Shahrah-e-Faisal.
