Sheriff Craig Owens is investigating high-tech methods to keep deputies safe either inside the Correctional Facility or out on the streets. A company demonstrated a ballistic-vest insert that can instantly notify commanders and 911 when a gunshot, stabbing, or taser hits a vest.
The new tech will work even if the deputy is incapacitated and provides instant location and detailed data to those rushing to help.
