The giant African millipede (Archispirostreptus gigas) is the largest of the world’s 12,000 millipede species, sporting up to 400 legs and growing up to 13 inches long. If threatened, they’ll coil into a spiral for protection and secrete a stinky liquid from their body segments, causing predators to think twice before taking a bite.
