I was able to take a ride in Liebherr's soon to be launched TA 230 ADT at their facility in Kirchdorf, Germany. Liebherr have built a special test track to measure long term stresses on the trucks which include simulated potholes up to 400mm deep.

Due to the monotonous nature of the testing and stresses on the human body, Liebherr have developed a semi autonomous way of running the ADT's on the test track without the need for a human driver. Sensors on the vehicles measure a wide range of information such as pressures, temperatures, accelerations, forces and strains. Liebherr's new range of articulated dump trucks will be launched Spring next year.
