On Saturday morning, five people were killed in renewed violence in Manipur’s Jiribam district, according to police reports. A man living alone in an isolated area, 5 km from the district headquarters, was shot dead in his sleep by militants. Following this, four armed individuals were killed in a subsequent exchange of gunfire, a police officer stated. The incident adds to the ongoing unrest in the region.
