The Multnomah County Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health Program kicked off 2024 with a Black History Month event on February 6 celebrating the successful application back in the fall of 2023 for another 5-year cycle. Through funding from the CDC, REACH will continue its work until 2028 with a focus on nutrition, physical activity, breastfeeding and adult vaccinations.
The February 6 event, held at the Portland Art Museum Mark Building and called REACHing Us: Celebrating Black Culture, Health & Resilience, reflected the 2024 Black History Month theme of “African Americans in Art.” Participants were given free entrance to the African Fashion exhibit and had a chance to mingle with Multnomah County staff, partners and community members.
