What a fabulous turnout!
I’ve just been to the lantern parade in Eye to watch some fantastic lanterns go past in the dark as residents around the area do their parade walk tonight. Here's a few pre-walk snaps.
Everyone has been attending workshops and been working over the past few weeks to create their lanterns. It’s an initiative by Peterborough Presents and the turnout tonight of around 350 local people was fantastic. People with lanterns or lights or covered in Christmas lights joined in the fun.
Lanterns have been created by local clubs, guides, the local older residents, children and basically young and old. The community centre tonight when I turned up was full of lanterns ready to be collected, of all shapes and sizes, and when the lights went on every single one looked amazing.
At the beginning of the parade as people gathered there was music and a small show with a lit up flower costume leading the way…
At the end of the parade there was a small show to celebrate, hot and cold food - some supplied by House of Feasts catering.
