In this video we will show you the largest waterfall in Sweden - Tännforsen, located in western Jämtland (Åre municipality). Tännforsen is one of Jämtland's most visited tourist destinations and a must see for everyone visiting Sweden or planning a road trip through the country!
Here's a few other interesting facts about the waterfall that we didn't mention in the video:
● The trail along the river and the waterfall is pretty wide and clean, so you could say that it is accessible by a wheelchair, BUT be aware that it is very-very steep. It is about 1km long and it's either downhill or uphill the whole way. There are two paths you can take from the parking lot. The one on the left is a bit longer and takes you to a look out point above the waterfall. The one on the right will take you directly to the falls. There are several lookout points. The one over the falls is not accessible by a wheelchair because of the stairs leading to it, but, if you follow the trail past the stairs, it will lead you to the foot of the fall, where you get to see the waterfall from a better angle.
● Tännforsen's tourist station and the road to the station were built at the beginning of the 20th century. The tourist station at Tännforsen has been open every summer since 1906. It is very easy to get to Tännforsen today. There's a big parking lot right next to the tourist station. Parking will cost you ca 30kr.
● There are as many as 21 red-listed tree-living lichens in the area around the rapids. The lichens other plants in the forest contribute to the magical forest feeling in the area.
