Lorain police are trying to identify a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a woman with serious leg injuries on Christmas Day.
The Lorain Police Department said in a press release that the crash happened near the median changeover in the 1100 block of Tower Boulevard near Tysons Road just before 6 p.m. Wednesday. Police say a 67-year-old woman was walking north across the road near the median when she was hit by a vehicle driving eastbound.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle, which was described to officers as a truck, fled the scene and continued driving east.
The victim was transported to a hospital by EMS. She is in stable condition being treated for "serious injuries" to one leg, police said.
Police recovered parts of the truck from the scene among other evidence that indicates the vehicle involved in the crash was a silver or gray Ford pickup truck.
Lorain police are still actively investigating the alleged hit-and-run and the suspect remains at large. Anyone with information is asked to call the LPD's traffic bureau at 440-204-2115 or email Brian_Andreas@cityoflorain.org.
