Follow Jacopo Tissi during his preparations for his first performance at Dutch National Ballet!

We proudly present Dutch National Ballet’s newest principal dancer: Jacopo Tissi. Jacopo, who was born in Italy, has been dancing from an early age and started his career at the ballet academy of Milan. After graduating, he joined the Wiener Staatsballett. In 2017 he was accepted by the Bolshoi Ballet, where he was promoted to the rank of ‘first soloist' already in his first season. Not much later, after his performance of the leading role in The Nutcracker, he was promoted to 'principal'.

During one of his many guest performances, his partner was principal dancer Olga Smirnova, with whom he had danced regularly in Moscow. When Jacopo came to Amsterdam to rehearse with Olga, he was pleasantly surprised by the good atmosphere and facilities of Dutch National Ballet and decided he wanted to join the company. And so he did: as of October 2023, Jacopo Tissi is a principal dancer with Dutch National Ballet.
