As there are quite a few components and milestones that comprise most PhD journeys, I shall discuss the most effective ways of navigating through it.

• Literature review: actively start working on your systematic literature review paper
• Books: select 5 books to read in Year 1
• Stay organized: plan your activities, goals and time
• Supervision: maintain a good relationship with your supervisor and keep them informed about your progress
• Learn new things: take online classes
• Attend seminars, workshops & conferences
• Personal branding: create a LinkedIn account or start a blog
• Career planning: streamline a plan and work towards it for the next 3 years
• Confidence: Be confident in the work you do
• Ask for help: learn from experienced researchers
