Blood Parrot fish are very intelligent fish and all are unique. They are man made hybrid cichlids. Blood parrots cannot successfully spawn or create fry. Blood Parrot fish males are infertile in almost all cases.
The freshwater red blood parrot cichlid fish attempts to breed like other cichlids that lay eggs and nest. Blood parrot females do produce viable eggs however typical male blood parrots are infertile.
It is common to see a loss of color in blood parrots. At time they will lose color due to stress and other factors such as breeding. Generally this will clear up on its own in time. Always monitor you blood parrot closely if you notice loss of color associated with other symptoms. It is also recommended you test your water at first signs of illness with your red blood parrot cichlid. Please not
At times blood parrot fish can also develop black spots. If you notice new spots where none were previously, it is worth testing your water. Blood parrots can develop black spots from stress. If your blood parrot is still young and a juvenile, these black patches may be part of the natural maturing process.
