I went to visit the Amboy Depot Museum in Amboy, IL about 25-30 minutes away and decided to make a quick trip of about 3 hours to Rochelle. It may have been short but there were plenty of trains about 16 in the time period. Even caught a KCS de Mexico locomotive on a eastbound intermodal.
0:15 A eastbound BNSF mixed manifest led by BNSF 8765 and Norfolk Southern 8906 passes through the Rochelle Railroad Park.
3:22 A westbound UP autorack train led by UP 7866 up front and 6542 as the rear DPU passes through the Rochelle Railroad Park. Included a couple GT and a Burlington Northern autorack car.
6:53 A westbound BNSF oil tanker train led by BNSF 6758 & 4303 passes through the Rochelle Railroad Park.
10:39 A eastbound BNSF oil tanker train led by BNSF 4825, CSX 8864, NS 9102, and BNSF 5768 as the rear DPU, passes through the Rochelle Railroad Park. This one came only minutes after the previous oil train.
16:59 A westbound UP intermodal train led by UP 8100 & 7756 up front and 7476 & 4999 as rear DPUS, passes through the Rochelle Railroad Park
20:21 Just as the westbound intermodal is leaving out of sight, a eastbound UP stack train led by UP 8863, 5268, and Kansas City Southern de Mexico 4501 passes through the Rochelle Railroad Park. It is rare for a KCS to pass through here, yet alone a KCS de Mexico.
