Oda Nobunaga (織田 信長, 1534–1582) was a powerful and influential daimyo (feudal lord) during Japan's Sengoku period, a time of near-constant military conflict and social upheaval. Nobunaga is often credited with laying the groundwork for the eventual unification of Japan under the Tokugawa shogunate.
