In 2021, the Search for Lost Birds released a list of ten species of bird that haven't been seen in over a decade but are presumed to still be alive.
1. Jerdon's Courser (Rhinoptilus bitorquatus) – 2008 – India
2. Cuban Kite (Chondrohierax wilsonii) – 2010 – Cuba
3. South Island Kōkako (Callaeas cinereus) – 2007 – New Zealand
4. Negros Fruit Dove (Ptilinopus arcanus) – 1953 – Philippines
5. Himalayan Quail (Ophrysia superciliosa) – 1876 – India
6. Itombwe Nightjar (Caprimulgus prigoginei) – 1955 – Democratic Republic of Congo
7. Santa Marta Sabrewing (Campylopterus phainopeplus) – 2010 – Colombia
8. Siau Scops Owl (Otus siaoensis) – 1866 – Indonesia
9. Dusky Tetraka (Xanthomixis tenebrosa) – 1999 – Madagascar
10. Vilcabamba Brushfinch (Atlapetes terborghi) – 1968 – Peru
