First thing to check when your BMW E46 convertible top is not working. Another thing you should check once a year to maintain functionality in your soft top is the fluid at the pump.
Also, remember to close your doors, have the car in PARK, put your emergency brake on and have the car running. Not all those steps are necessary, but running the car when operating the soft top is good for maintaining battery health and preserving the pump.
