The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management is warning of the possibility of ice jams on the Grand River.
Water levels on the Grand River are being monitored and aren't expected to rise to a level that can cause significant flooding. But the forecasted rainfall and melting snow and ice can cause perfect conditions for ice jams on the Grand River.
Ice that is broken up from rising waters and warmer temperatures can obstruct the flow of the river near bridges or constricted bends in the river causing rapid flooding.
