READ THIS:
TO FIND MOST OF YOUR ANSWERS YOU WILL HAVE MORE LUCK VISITING THE GAME'S DISCORD
THE BLOODLINE DISCORD
TL;DR most likely there will be an official wiki or something that will supercede this but for the time being here's a quick start guide to answer some basic questions new players might have in their first few hours in the game.
**Unofficial "The Bloodline" Wiki So this game is relatively complex considering it's a 1 developer indie game. It's INCREDIBLY easy to miss a tutorial here and there and be completely stuck not knowing what to do. So I figured we can create an unofficial kind of wiki post to help new players because gaining and retaining players is the best path forward to this game continuing to improve.
Movement basics:
Shift = sprint
F = grappling hook. Does not work on stone. Press F again to "swing" so you can let go. Hold E to climb the rope, Q to drop off.
Spacebar = Jump
Climbing = Sheathe your weapon, face the wall and jump at it. Once you contact the wall press jump again to begin climbing.
TO ENTER THE OVERWORLD/EXIT TOWNS: Tab brings up a radial menu which allows you to access your other menus and most importantly you can portal to the overworld.
To move in the overworld - simply click around the map and your character will run there. Hold spacebar to speed up time.
To exit the overworld - To leave you have to either find a town/castle and press E to enter it which will bring you back to 1st person OR find a unique zone (Like Parford Lake) and press middle mouse button to camp and then you will be back in 1st person.
Mounts:
You get a donkey for completing the "Slay 5 Goblins" quest. To access mounts click "I" and then click on the lion icon on the left hand side which will bring up the mount menu. Then simply click the mount you wish to use.
If for some reason you finish the quest to kill 5 goblins and did not get your mount a town near Khenmore has 2 more for sale. (Courtesy of u/_Solinvictus)
Skills:
All the main skills can be performed without a tool. Mining, foraging, woodcutting, fishing, etc... To find ore try to look for rocky areas inside unique zones where you can camp.
To find things like wheat to get your bakery started you can generally find it in buildings. Try looking for the empty castles on the map and raiding them.
To level up simply open the radial menu with tab and it will be at the top of the menu.
Woodcutting: Find a tree, head up and press E to start and play the minigame. You can also cut trees from the Overworld but AFAIK it doesn't give EXP but you can cut trees above your skill level. Not sure if this is intentional.
Mining: Same as woodcutting.
Foraging: Simply approach and grab with E.
Fishing: Find a ripple in the water and a prompt will appear to fish then play the mini game.
At this time I don't believe there is an inventory or weight cap.
Combat Skills: (Side note, I managed to play for like 2 hours before even realizing there were combat skills).
Magic: When you level up you are alloted skill points (This is seperate from the Health, Magic, Stamina options). To obtain skills hit TAB then go to your Skill Tree (Not spell book) and then scroll to the desired area. For example I picked up Cryomancy and learned the first couple spells.
To use these skills you then can open your Spell Book and simply drag the icon onto your two bars in the middle of your screen numbered 1-5.
These same rules apply to one handed weapons, greatswords, bows, etc...
Basic attacks with your main weapon or ranged with = Left Mouse Button
Block: Right mouse button
Spells: Some spells may be obtained by reading books found throughout the world. Rotwood fort in the Elderglen Woods had one for me while I was there for the Steps of Esros quest. AFAIK you cannot learn these spells normally.
Staves skills work, just not with the walking stick, has to be a proper staff (Elderglen/Khenmoore sells proper staffs). Some stave skills like poisonous whaft and light do work with the walking stick (and the soldiers halberd.) Some staffs have special charge skills. The soulstaff sold in Khenmoore will deal a whimpy beam attack when holding right click and then left clicking (If no enemy is targeted, will consume your own mana instead). After 3 consecutive beams/charges however, it will unleash a powerful beam attack (staff head will glow to let you know its ready). (Courtesy of u/Mollbonervoid).
Building:
To build decorations hit TAB then scroll to the "crafting" portion of your radial menu and it will bring up a menu that can be scrolled using Middle Mouse. Select the item you wish to build, hold Z and move with the item to rotate it. Then, simply left click to place the item.
