Madeline Rector is an artist in Texas who specializes in magazine paper mosaics and collages. She rips out solid colors from magazines and organizes them into piles based on color. Madeline sketches a portrait onto a black canvas, using a photograph as her reference. Then she carefully glues the magazine scraps on the sketch to create a mosaic portrait. Depending on the positioning of a light source, you'll see the texture of the scraps in the final piece more. Madeline's grandfather has been giving her magazines ever since she was a kid. She kept all of the magazines and recently decided to make use of them.
