During his term as President, Barack Obama had listed this as the topmost threat to USA and undertaken a number of steps at the domestic and international level to get nations to enhance the nuclear security measures. For India, which inhabits a region that not only has expansive nuclear infrastructure in many countries but is also infested with terrorist organisations, the threat of nuclear terrorism is a live one.
So, what is nuclear terrorism? What are its various types? Why is nuclear security important for India? What measures has been taken at the national level to mitigate this threat and how has India participated towards thsse efforts at the international level?
