A minority people group in West Africa perform the Muslim prayer ritual. The Arabic phrase "Allah akbar" - "God is the greatest" or "God is greater" - is called out repeatedly. It is not a prayer to God, but a prayer which says something about God. To these people the performance of this prayer ritual is the most important key to obtaining good merit, which it is hoped God will take into account, and as a result forgive sins. It is said by them to "erase" sins such as lying, stealing, adultery, etc.
