What do you think when you think of Portugal? Beaches? Winter breaks? Golf? Lisbon?... You probably don't think of spectacular mountain views, excellent hiking, amazing wildlife encounters and the best driving experiences.
We couldn't believe how amazing this place was and how we didn't know about it before. The Peneda Geres National Park in Northern Portugal borders Spain and hosts some of the most diverse landscapes we've ever seen with views so good and so frequent it takes all morning to drive a few miles because you keep stopping to get out of the car and take a picture. It seems a very underrated part of the country to us and better for it in some ways as we saw very few people and far more cows, goats and horses during our stay!
