In this episode I take you to one of the 7 replicas of the world's towns that Shanghai has to offer. It is the Pujiang New Town. This is an area that is supposed to have the Italian theme. This is part of a mini series - The World In Shanghai.
How is life in Shanghai in these areas in 2021.
In 2001 the government started the initiative called One City 9 Towns. The idea was to encourage people to move into the suburbs. In the end only 7 towns were built and it's taking a while to sell all the property in these replicas. There is a lot of life now in Shanghai suburbs now nevertheless, due to metro expansion, and general city growth.
