The fisheries industry has been on a steady decline, following the indefinite closure of more than 10 fish processing plants in the country. Poor governance and neglect on conservation efforts have almost halved the country’s fish production, raising serious questions on the sustainability of fishing as an economic activity and preservation of Lake Victoria as a mutual resource shared between Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
