Not bad for a first effort. The hangi was pretty effective, although we did end up putting the meat in the (conventional) oven for about 45 mins just to finish it off. Notes for next time: don't foil wrap - place in wire basket on the stones and cover with wet cloth; heat the stones in a fire elsewhere then transfer them to the pit; and leave the food in the ground for longer (we did just under 3 hours for a leg of venison and a leg of lamb). Very good all the same.
