Days after a tax raid on Uttar Pradesh businessman Piyush Jain uncovered eye-popping piles of cash, SP MLC Pushpraj 'Pampi' Jain was raided in Kannauj on Friday.
Around 50 locations are being searched in Delhi and Mumbai linked to the businessman who owns perfumery, petrol pumps and cold storage operations and had launched 'Samajwadi Perfume' ahead of UP elections due early next year.
Coming amidst a high-pitched election campaign in the state, the raids have entered the political narrative with BJP and SP trading barbs at each other.
Following the raids on Pushpraj Jain, SP was quick to take to twitter and retorted that after a failure last time, BJP's primary ally Income Tax Department has finally raided Pushpraj Jain. Open misuse of central agencies by scared BJP is common in UP elections, it added.
