Mouthpiece buzzing can be a surprisingly useful developmental and diagnostic tools for brass players, whether they're experienced professionals or just starting out.
My beginner classes all buzz for a week prior to taking their full instruments home. The idea is that building a little consistency of breathing, tonguing and embouchure (lip muscle position/control) prior to playing at full volume will lessen the shock families experience upon hearing their child honk a noisy brass instrument for the first time. One week of buzzy duck noises to enable a lifetime of music-making!

The four imagination games covered in this video are:
1. Laser beam buzz (aiming for steady, continuous sound like in our long buzz competitions)
2. Skydiving buzz (with or without the splat effect at the end)
3. Rollercoaster buzz (start low, but not TOO relaxed - keep the 'mmm' shape lips and cheeks in)
4. Siren buzz (start high, imagining that your lips are tensed up like a balloon being made to squeal).
