US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has launched a new tool to streamline the rescheduling process for most biometric services appointments. This move seeks to enhance customer service, following the agency's commitment to the goals of EO 14058, aimed at improving federal customer experience. Now, users with a USCIS online account can reschedule their appointments without calling the Contact Center. However, the tool can't be used for appointments rescheduled twice or more, within 12 hours, or those already passed.
The tool can be accessed regardless of how the case was submitted, and while the Contact Center is still an option, the new tool is encouraged for efficiency. The USCIS is also providing guidance on how "good cause" rescheduling requests are considered, which include reasons like illness, significant life events, and inability to obtain transport or leave from work. Note that untimely rescheduling requests are only accepted via the USCIS Contact Center.
