Well, I finally got my Analogman King Of Tone pedal, and this is my first look at it!

You all know the King Of Tone already – it’s probably the most famous overdrive pedal around, the king of the transparent overdrives, and also one of the hardest to obtain. At least, if you choose to buy it from Analogman directly.
At time of writing this (July 26, 2024), the pedal currently has a waiting list of almost six years exactly, and Analogman have just invited customers who got on the KoT waiting list on August 29, 2018, to place their order. If you don’t have the patience, of course, you could always buy a used one for two or three times the price of waiting - or simply buy one of the many clones or 'inspired by' pedals that are out there.
I’ve played with the KoT for a few hours now, and I love it. It is ‘just’ an overdrive pedal, sure, but I’ve already come up with six reasons – one for each year I waited on the pedal, perhaps – as to why I think it’s still a great option in 2024 and beyond. Simply put, it's a fantastic sounding and incredibly versatile drive pedal... and I kind of feel like a king playing it! But there's more to it than that as well, as I explain here.
Do you agree? Let me know your thoughts on the KoT in the comments, and also let me know what you think I should do with the pedal in the future! Apart from selling it, of course, because there’s no way that’s happening 😉

My setup for the sound samples was as follows: I ran the KoT straight into my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head, also using the Greer Lightspeed for the overdrive stacking sounds. That went from the amp’s Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done.
