Funding a documentary can be tough, but you also have a lot of options. In this video, a panel of filmmaking experts discuss different ways to get your film made. They have a range of suggestions on documentary funding, such as staying close to home to save on travel, looking into film grants and online pitch boards, crowdfunding, and other resources available to indie films. They cover scanning the credits of films to build a database of people and companies you can reach out to for funding, and bargaining with businesses to get in-kind funding. Most of all, they suggest to be sure not to let funding your film get in the way of the story - whether you have $1000 dollars or $1 million, if you have a compelling story to tell, your film can be successful.
