Is the Scrambler 400X off-road ready? Three things to consider
First- The ergonomics when you stand on the pegs and ride is well judged. It is easy to grip onto the tank, the handlebar is set at the right height and that reduces the strain while you are riding off-road
Second- The Scrambler has some but not all the hardware to be labeled as a true blue off-roader. It has long travel suspension that works well, decent ground clearance and a metal bash plate to tackle most of the trails you’d encounter. But you’d be better off erring on the side of caution when it comes to serious off-roading.
Third- The Scrambler ships with alloy wheels and they won’t be able to withstand impacts, such as over rocks, while riding off-road in the same way as spoke wheels could. Not being cautious could lead to bent or broken rims. So, beware!
