Two lucky individuals who went shopping in Taichung have become the winners of two unique baseballs commemorating Taiwan’s Premier12 win. It’s all thanks to the lucky draws part of the Taichung Shopping Festival, a multi-week shopping extravaganza in the city. One of the two baseballs was signed by all the players of Team Taiwan, while the other was signed by all the members of the cheerleading squad. The winners were drawn at an event on Nov. 30, alongside the winner of a luxury car valued at more than NT$1 million.
What is it about this commemorative baseball that everyone in Taiwan wants it? Well, after Taiwan’s Premier12 win, it was added as a lucky draw prize at the Taichung Shopping Festival.

This is a special draw. Besides the cash prize, we’re giving out this baseball that was signed by all the players of our team who recently won the Premier12.
That’s right. The ball was autographed by every single member of Team Taiwan at the Premier12. Mayor Lu Shiow-yen phoned the lucky winner, Mr. Liu to inform him of the prize. After three rings, he finally picked up.
Thinking that it was a scam, Mr. Liu immediately hung up on the mayor and wouldn’t answer again. Still, that makes no difference as he is the legitimate winner of the signed baseball. Also unveiled at the event was the winner of a second baseball signed by the members of CT Amaze, Team Taiwan’s cheerleading squad.
The winner in that case sounded happy about the prize, but the excitement was nothing in comparison with the next winner announced.
Even before knowing what she had won, Ms. Chen screamed in delight. She’s now the owner of a luxury car valued at more than NT$1 million. All for spending some NT$2,000 on clothes.
