Alabama-West Florida has been a fraught conference for a long time, now. I started watching them back when they lost so many churches at once, when the trustees immediately thereafter closed the exit doors. Since then, a group of 44 churches working with the NCLL were unsuccessful in petitioning for freedom. However, they are not throwing in the towel. Rather, a growing number of churches are suing individually. The conference, appealing for aid from the state, has been denied.
This segment addresses the potential reality of a new legal strategy to bankrupt a conference that is already dealing with a dramatic budget shortfall. Is this a sign of things to come?
